El pasado día 20 de febrero, la Academia Cinematográfica Japonesa entregó sus premios a lo mejor del 2008. La película ‘Departures’ dirigida por Yojiro Takita, sobre un violonchelista desempleado  que encuentra trabajo como maquillador de cadáveres en una funeraria, fue la gran triunfadora de la noche con un total de 10 estatuillas de las 13 categorías en las que estaba nominada. La cinta ‘Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea’, del genial Hayao Miyazaki, ganó el premio a la Mejor Película Animada (que viene a confirmar hasta la fecha que sea el mayor éxito de una película japonesa en el box-office nipón), mientras que ‘El Caballero Oscuro’ ganó el premio a la Mejor Película Extranjera.
