Nicolas Chartier (el primer señor por la derecha en la foto), productor del film independiente ‘The Hurt Locker’ (En Tierra Hostil), cinta dirigida por Kathryn Bigelow (ex de James Cameron, director de ‘Avatar’), y que cuenta con nueve nominaciones para los próximos Oscars 2010, ha sido penalizado por la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas por hacer mala propaganda de sus competidoras, en concreto de ‘Avatar’ a la que se refirió en un email como “la película de los 500 Millones“. El productor Nicolas Chartier no sólo no podrá asistir a la ceremonia sino que además su nombre ha sido suprimido del listado de productores de ‘En Tierra Hostil’ en la categoría de Mejor Película (sólo tres de sus productores estarán presentes por tanto en la ceremonia y en el sobre, si es que la película ganara dicho premio). De manera que ‘En Tierra Hostil’, además de los reconocimientos ya logrados, está sumando numerosas circunstancias curiosas en su currículum: ha sido dirigida por la ex-mujer de Cameron, contra el que compite, quien es probable se convierta en la primera mujer que gana un Oscar al Mejor Director, y también acuña el poco decoroso honor de ser la primera cinta y ocasión en que la Academia veta la presencia de una persona (non-grato). Ayer sábado se entregaron en la ciudad de Los Ángeles los Premios Writers Guild of America 2010, unos reconocimientos que otorga el Gremio de Escritores de Estados Unidos a los mejores escritores-guionistas.  Dicho Gremio aúna a los guionistas de cine, televisión, radio y otros medios de entretenimiento. Y los últimos estrenos del mes de enero en España son: ‘La Mujer sin Piano’, ‘Kabrat y el Molino del Diablo’, ‘Chéri’, ‘La Cuarta Fase’, ‘Todo incluido’, ‘En Tierra Hostil’ e ‘Invictus’.

- ‘La Mujer sin Piano’, dirigida por Javier Rebollo, con los intérpretes Carmen Machi, Nadia de Santiago, Jan Budar y Pep Ricart. Drama con tintes cómicos sobre las 24 horas de un ama de casa, esposa y amante que una noche se escapa de su rutina doméstica diaria.

- ‘Kabrat y el Molino del Diablo’, dirigida por Marco Kreuzpaintner, con los intérpretes David Kross, Daniel Brühl, Christian Redl y Paula Kalenberg. Película fantástica sobre un adolescente huérfano que aprende artes oscuras de un malvado hechicero.

- ‘Chéri’, dirigida por Stephen Frears, con los intérpretes Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathy Bates, Rupert Friend y Felicity Jones. Drama de época sobre una antigua cortesana que recibe el encargo de una amiga para enseñarle a su hijo a ser un hombre. El flirteo inicial dará paso a un apasionado romance de seis años de duración.

- ‘La Cuarta Fase’, dirigida por Olatunde Osunsanmi, con los intérpretes Milla Jovovich, Will Patton, Corey Johnson y Enzo Cilenti. Thriller sobrenatural ambientado en una localidad de Alaska en el que una mujer investiga una serie de misteriosas desapariciones ocurridas durante 40 años atrás.

- ‘Todo incluido’, dirigida por Peter Billingsley, con los intérpretes Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Faizon Love y Jon Favreau. Comedia sobre cuatro parejas que se marchan de vacaciones a un complejo Resort en una isla tropical. Todo es magnífico allí excepto una cosa: la terapia matrimonial obligatoria.

- ‘Invictus’, dirigida por Clint Eastwood, con los intérpretes Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Bonnie Henna y Marguerite Wheatley. Película ambientada poco después de la salida de la cárcel del líder Nelson Mandela y la celebración del Campeonato del Mundo de Rugby dle año 1995, evento que Mandela utilizó para acabar con las rencillas y el odio entre blancos y negros en Sudáfrica.

- ‘En Tierra Hostil’, dirigida por Kathryn Bigelow, con los intérpretes Jeremy Renner, Anthonie Mackie, Ralph Fiennes y Guy Pearce. Película ambientada en la guerra de Irak sobre una brigada norteamericana experta en la desactivación de artefactos explosivos.

Todos tienen voto y voz, por supuesto que el Gremio de Productores de los Estados Unidos también. Por eso han decidido que la Mejor Película del año 2009 es ‘The Hurt Locker’ (En Tierra Hostil), que por cierto se estrenará éste viernes 29 de enero en España. La película ambientada en la guerra de Irak, y que tiene como principales protagonistas a una brigada norteamericana experta en desactivar explosivos, da un salto de calidad enorme sobre sus inmediatas perseguidoras en la carrera por los Oscars para alzarse con dicha estatuilla en la misma categoría, hecho que por cierto ya ha sucedido en 13 ocasiones los últimos 20 años, las más recientes con ‘No es país para viejos’ y ‘Quien quiere ser millonario’. Los productores Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier, Greg Shapiro y Kathryn Bigelow, a la limón directora de ‘The Hurt Locker’, recogieron el galardón: “Esto es absolutamente increíble“. Así de contenta estaba la directora quien define su último trabajo como “una dura y pequeña película de guerra que fue filmada en el verano en Oriente Medio“. Se da la circunstancia que también ha ganado el Premio de la Crítica a la Mejor Película, superando en este apartado una vez más a ‘Avatar’ de su ex-esposo James Cameron. Y la pregunta ahora es… ¿ganará Bigelow también el Premio del Gremio de Directores el próximo sábado?

‘The Cove’, dirigido por Louie Psihoyos, se alzó con el galardón al Mejor Documental y la cinta ‘Up’, dirigida por Pete Docter y Bob Peterson, fue considerada la Mejor Película de Animación.
